Are you new to the community? Stop in here and tell us why you joined.

Do you teach? Are you a life-long learner? What brought you here and what do you want to learn?

to learn more, still fairly new to this site. Learning to navigate around…Been talking with Nellie’s group a bit lately. I am a high school special education teacher in Hinckley, Maine. More about edtech and what actually works vs what’s cool, neat and new. A bit on overload right now…too much information going in, not enough time to process everything. :)

I have been a cooperative learning user and trainer for some years-but know that there is always so much more to learn-a new combination of an old structure and so on. I taught high school in the Oshawa/Whitby area for 34 years. Now retired and doing training for educators-mostly in Germany. To hshawjr-this is a great teaching strategy for spec ed!! I would be pleased to talk about this….I sure understand the overload “thing”.Looking forward to meeting new educators and sharing best practice. My husband Norm and I will will be adding a new lesson each week, starting next week on the topic-”the first 4 weeks of cooperative learning” We hope this might be a good starting point for new cooperative learners. We look forward to your blogs!!

You might know that I teach part time at Algonquin College here in Ottawa, and that I currently taking courses towards my teachers certificate. I just finished Learning Theories, which I love, and I begin Professional Standards on May 6th. I am excited to read through your site, and to continue expanding my understanding about taching methods and effectiveness. I have not yet joined, but once I get the hang of your site, I certainly will. HOpe all is well, and I lok forward to learnign together!!! Laurel

First of all i was invited by Kathy to join this site (Thanks a lot for that:-) I joined several courses and meetings in Mönchengladbach, Germany and now I’m looking forward to gain new and further insights on CL. I’m the headmaster of a school for learning impaired children in Duisburg, Germany. Together with some colleagues we are trying to implement CL in our school and it is amazing to see even small things causing positive effects on individual learning processes. I think CL to be very convincing…..

I am the coordinator of the EU VITAE project trying to develop a train the trainers course for teachers to integrate 21st century skills in their normal practice. It seems to me that effective group work would be an important part of this but I need to learn more about it myself first! We are at http://www.vitae-project.eu

I like to learn things from the others and the idea of working to improve something together. I like the community idea. I still have some difficulties to understand how does the website works because it’s kind of messy for me, but I guess I’ll get used to.

It defines many of the things that I strive to do in the classroom daily to keep kids motivated, interested, and connected to their learning.

Having taken a Master’s level course with Barrie Bennett at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, I have been enthusiastically working to develop my own ‘instructional intelligence.’ My school board is working closely with Barrie as well, utilizing his book, Beyond Monet.

I have just joined the site, having heard a wonderful presentation from Norm and Kathy earlier this morning. I teach at Roberta Bondar Public School in Brampton, Ontario and am just beginning to see how this site might benefit the kids at our school. I’m looking forward to seeing how things might evolve as the site and my own learning grows.

Hi, I’ve just joined this sight. I teach in Western Australia and am currently involved in an Instructional Intellegance program which Barrie Bennett is a part of. I am very interested in cooperative learning and have seen first hand how my students embrace it. Cooperative learning is just getting off the ground here and i am looking forward to being a part of it as it grows in this State.

Hello, Last summer I worked with Redwood Writing Project in California and did some research on writing cooperative chronicles. From that I became interested in Cooperative Learning. I teach Kindergarten and ESL to adults. I am always looking for better ways to engage people with learning and hopefully helping them to learn from each other.

Hello every members of thi community. I am a citizen of INDIA and i am very eager of cooperative learning because i want to know all the mistries of life and learning. I want to learn as much as i can to attain the zenith of learning. I know a man can never be fully perfect because perfection is infinity but at least i can try to manifest the perfection.By the way of cooperative learning i know i am inching towards the Infinity.
